PH431 - Week 1 - Announcements & Video Intro to Course (NEW)

Hi PH431,



We are currently in Day One of Week One.  I wanted to double check with everyone that we are clear as to what is due this week.  First and foremost - be sure that you have all of the required equipment items listed on the AIO website for this course.

I've created a helpful video introduction to the course for you to review before jumping into Week 1's module:

RE: COURSE HOME

You will find a slew of announcements in the “Course Home” section; documents such as:

This will be where I will post general announcements that will help you throughout each week.  I will also be introducing you to new photographers each week whose work will relate to our field of study.


RE: QUESTIONS FOR THE PROFESSOR

Be sure to also read all of the posts within the "Questions for the Professor" area.  These posts could also be looked at as "frequently asked questions" (and answers).  In many cases, I will tell you to refer back to the posts within this section. 



Please be sure to read all of the announcements before proceeding with Week One’s workload.

 

RE: ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS: 

If you have not done so already, be sure to look under the “Course Home” section, and click on “Academic Expectations”.  You are expected to read this material within this section and create a post stating that you understand the material before moving forward with Week 1.  If you have not done this as of yet, please be sure to complete it as soon as possible.

Under the “Course Home” section, be sure to read the information under “Academic Resources”. There are many resources available to you!  Maybe this is your first course or even if it is your last, there is a wide variety of resources available to you. Take a moment to review the details of each below. Decide for yourself, if any of these resources could be of help to you as you progress through your online program. RE: WEEK 1 – ASG. #1: “Autobiography”

Post your written introduction directly in the thread and attach your written statement and resume to your post in the Discussion Thread by (date specified in assignment). 


By (date specified in assignment) review and comment on the autobiographies, resumes, and written statements posted by at least two of your peers.

 

RE: WEEK 1 – ASG. #2: “Understanding a Web Presence”

You will research and reflect upon a photographer in your photographic genre who has developed and utilizes a strong web presence.



Submit your portfolio along with the completed portfolio self-evaluation document to the Discussion Area by (date specified in assignment).

By (date specified in assignment), review and comment on the submission of at least two of your peers.

RE: WEEK 1 – ASG. #3: “Final Project: Collect E-Folio Resources”

In this assignment, you will begin collecting your resources and images for your e-folio. You should gather the materials that you may have already created, such as a logo, a résumé, an artist or a brand statement, a bio, and evidence of publication or exhibition, to use in your e-folio website. In addition, you will gather twenty to thirty images that communicate a consistent style and brand to start the process of organizing your e-folio galleries.

Submit your assignment to the Discussion Area by (date specified in assignment).

By (date specified in assignment), review and comment on at least two of your peer's posts.

Although it may be tempting to work ahead, I would encourage all of you to work within the given time frame.  If you must work ahead, please refrain from submitting your work until the given deadline.
