Portraits By: SHELBY LEE ADAMS ~ (for week 2)

Each week we will be looking at a new photographer via one of the blog posts on my blog, First Years Focus and Fire.

This week, I would like to introduce you to one of my favorite contemporary photographers, Shelby Lee Adams.  Adams uses hard light for the majority of his portraits. Adams was born in 1950 and is known as an environmental portrait photographer.  He is well known for the photographs he has taken in Appalachia of different families who live there. He has been photographing those who live in this region since the mid 1970's.

Our Week 2 module teaches us about the differences between when a photographer would use soft or hard light. Adams is a great example of when someone would use hard light.
