Below you will find my feedback for your W2A2 in the form of “group video feedback”. To view your group video feedback, please scroll up. It’s been posted in the body of the assignment; just below the rubric. Please note: details regarding “top images” to consider for your final assignment are noted in the group video critique.
- RE: CREATED 40 NEW PHOTOGRAPHS OF A NEW MODEL (SUBJECT); 20 FRAMES TAKEN INDOORS USING STUDIO LIGHT WITH A REFLECTOR; 20 FRAMES TAKEN OUTDOORS UNDER NATURAL LIGHT WITH A REFLECTOR; PLUS IMAGES DOCUMENTING USE OF HANDHELD LIGHT METER AND LIGHTING SCHEMES; USES EFFECTIVE EXPOSURE, WHITE BALANCE, FOCUS AND COMPOSITION.
- RE: CREATED NEW PHOTOGRAPHS USING EFFECTIVE COMPOSITION AND LIGHTING CHOICES TO COMMUNICATE THE CHARACTER AND PERSONALITY OF THE SUBJECT:
- RE: TOP 3 IMAGES HAVE EFFECTIVE TECHNICAL LIGHTING CHOICES, EXPOSURE, WHITE BALANCE, FOCUS, AND BALANCED VISUAL COMPOSITION AND INCLUDE AT LEAST ONE EXAMPLE EACH OF NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL LIGHT:
You
submitted the basics of the assignment: 40 images of a new subject; 20
taken indoors with modelling light + a reflector and 20 taken outdoors
with the reflector. You also include a wide-angle image of your lighting
schemes and images of your handheld light meter in correct use. With
the image of your reflector outdoors: ensure that you are showing where
that was positioned in relation to where your model was standing.
In terms of white balance: I would encourage you to measure your color temperature manually with the gray card particularly with your modeling light. Please refer to the video tutorial within the Questions for the Professor; details on this post are noted in the group video critique (above).
Everyone’s contact sheet is discussed in the critique. Please note: you’re required to watch the entire length of the video. What I may say to one student – could also apply to your own work. Essentially, you don’t want to “miss anything”.

- RE PROVIDED A THOUGHTFUL, (200-WORD) ESSAY DISCUSSION STUDENT’S TECHNICAL AND CREATIVE CHOICES THROUGHOUT THE SHOOT:
Student’s
written statement was handled well; discussed both the technical and
creative choices made throughout the shoot. Statement met the 200-word
mark.
