PH323: W4A3: Feedback

Hi Darwin,

Below you will find my feedback for your W4A3 in the form of “group video feedback”; details from the rubric are discussed in the video.

RE: Submitted contact sheet of 20 images created according to course standards, image of handheld light meter, wide-angle image of lighting scheme, and one marketable portrait of the subject that:
  • Has correct exposure and demonstrates technical knowledge of camera and lighting control.
  • Exhibits creativity with angles and composition (moving camera and subject frequently to explore the angles).
  • Shows attention to composition and design elements.
  • Follows instructions and requirements for assignment.

You submitted the basics of the assignment: 20 new images shot with strobe lighting (although you did not submit an image of your wide-angle lighting scheme) and showed use of your handheld light meter (although information on the meter was not legible).

Your images from W4A3 show a big improvement in terms of adding in the human subject, having the sun behind the subject from your W4A1; well done! In terms of composition: I would encourage you to avoid distracting elements behind your model; further details are noted in the group video critique.   I've pointed out a few suggested top images within the group video critique (and re-attached contact sheet).

I would like to see you make these edits within 48 hours and re-submit as JPEG files.

RE: Provided a 250-word production document that depicts the photographic methodology of the shoot and a brief statement about the target genre.
Your description was well written, discusses your target market, and met the 500-word mark.

Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions and/or concerns.
