PH323: W2A1: Feedback

Hi Darwin,

You will find my feedback for your W2A1 for 2 out of the 3 categories in the rubric.  Feedback has been provided to you in the form of “video feedback”. 
 
  • RE: SUBMITTED A CONTACT SHEET THAT CONTAINED A SUBJECT PORTRAYING TEN EMOTIONS THAT; 2 IMAGES PER EMOTION WITH A TOTAL OF 20 IMAGES
    • CORRECT EXPOSURE; DEMONSTRATED TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE OF CAMERA AND LIGHTING CONTROL
    • SHOWS ATTENTION TO COMPOSITION AND DESIGN ELEMENTS
    • FOLLOWS INSTRUCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSIGNMENT
Further details about the 20 images, wide-angle image of lighting scheme, and shot of handheld light meter in use is discussed in the group video critique.  All students are required to watch the full length of the video to learn more.
 
All students are encouraged to pull their models further from the backdrop.  Placing your subject a full 6 feet in front of the backdrop will obviously mean that you need to move your lights forward as well.  When you move your lights forward, the light will fall mostly on your subject.  This will allow you to create more of a light separation between the light that is falling on your subjects and the light falling on the backdrop.
 
Moving forward: I'm encouraging all students to take a look at the post in the Questions for the Professor section titled "Cropping Guide for Portraits"; be sure to follow this for all of your future shoots; details are noted in the group video critique.
