Assignment 1: Autobiography
By Week 1, Day 1, post at least a 150-word autobiography to this Discussion Area. Introduce
yourself to the class and outline your reasons for taking this course,
your career aspirations, and anything else you wish to share with the
class. Your introduction should cover the following details:
- Your full name and location
- Your program of study at Ai Online
- Times and places that have motivated you as a photographer.
- When your interest in photography began.
- Where you see yourself working in three, ten, and twenty years.
- Please share what you think are three key elements of a successful portrait.
Provide an example of your best photograph that you feel demonstrates your a "portrait". You will not be graded on this image. Save the image as a JPEG and convert to a PDF; label this image "PH323_W1_A1_Lastname_Firstinitial_Top Portrait.PDF".
Next, post between 3-9 photographs that you have taken (vs. one found online) of the lighting kit and all of your other required items —particularly the handheld light meter— that you plan to use in the course. When you take this photo, be sure to have your gear laid out clearly –each item should be identifiable.
- Combine all of your photos
into a contact sheet using the 3x3 option with 9 images per page; 300ppi
(more information on how to create a contact sheet can be found in the
"Questions for the Professor" section).
- Save your contact sheet as a PDF and label it: "PH323_W1_A1_LastName_FirstName_Gear.PDF"
By Week 1, Day 4 comment on at least two of your peers' autobiographies. You may ask questions or respond generally to the overall experience.
Consider the discussions as a way of
communicating your ideas and opinions in a traditional classroom. Be
clear in your communications. Format your autobiography according to MLA
guidelines.
