Assignment 1: Autobiography
*Note: Your W1A2 is due the same day.*
- Post at least a 250-word autobiography to this Discussion Area.
Introduce yourself to the class and outline the positive outcomes of
taking this course, your career aspirations, and anything else you wish
to share with the class. Your introduction should cover the following
details:
- Your name and location
- What track of photography you wish to pursue
- Expectations from this course
- Attach a photograph of yourself with the required lighting equipment for the course.
- Always use constructive language,
even in criticism, to work toward the goal of positive progress. Support
your statements with appropriate references, wherever possible or
required. Follow current MLA writing guidelines for style, spelling,
grammar, and citation of sources.
- Post a recent portrait you have taken to this Discussion Area in a file named as PH222_W1_A1_lastname_firstinitial_portrait.jpg. Describe your portrait and its style.
- Type up a detailed inventory list of all of your equipment; save it as "PH222_W1_A1_Lastname_Firstinitial_Inventory.PDF".
- Post between 3-9 photographs that you have taken (vs. one found online) of the lighting kit and all of your other required items noted in your inventory list that you will use in the course. When you take this photo, be sure to have your gear laid out clearly –each item should be identifiable. You should also step into one of the shots clearly showing all of the gear.
- Combine all of
your photos into a contact sheet using the 3x3 option with 9 images per
page; 300ppi (more information on how to create a contact sheet can be
found in the "Questions for the Professor" section).
- Save your contact sheet as a PDF and label it: "PH222_W1A1_LastName_FirstName_Gear.PDF"
- Take screenshots of your required software & your textbook. Incorporate all screenshots into one PDF titled: PH222_W1A1_LastName_FirstName_software_textbook.PDF
By Week 1, Day 4, place all of your files into a folder, compress it, and save it as a ZIP file. Label the ZIP file PH222_W1_A1_lastname_firstinitial_portrait.ZIP. Post your assignment to this Discussion Area.
By Week 1, Day 6,
Comment on at least two of your peers' autobiographies and portraits.
You may ask questions or respond generally to the overall experience.
Consider the discussions as a way of
communicating your ideas and opinions in a traditional classroom. Be
clear in your communications. Format your autobiography according to
MLA guidelines.
